Congrats! You’ve officially endured your first Bronco win. Your dad is a die-hard fan and every game is pretty much a holiday around here which you’ll quickly come to understand. You’ll also learn that one of my favorite parts of football season is the snacks, so there’s never a shortage of those. Your dad doesn’t do much cooking around here but I was able to get him to pitch in and help with this one. You looked super adorable in your polka-dot Bronco onesie. It’s going to take awhile to get used to all the hooping and hollering but you actually did really well. Can’t wait to spend the rest of the season with you!
For this simple recipe, you’ll gather your favorite pizza toppings. Feel free to get creative with it and make a couple of different varieties. Around here we favor pepperoni and lots of fresh veggies. We also got a little fancy and mixed some marinara and alfredo sauce together to create a more flavorful base. Top with your favorite cheese and pop in the oven – and you’re practically set.
As you can tell from the images, this recipe is pretty straight forward. Start with a delicious fresh French Bread from your favorite local baker. Cut in half horizontally and carve out the middle so it creates a little boat for all of your favorite toppings. Generously add your sauce and begin to layer the ingredients. We like to add dried rosemary and basil to the bread bump up the flavor.
Start with a thin layer of cheese and build from there. We opted for green peppers, red onion, and pepperoni. I always prefer to buy the pepperoni from the deli counter. I like the thin cut and bigger size than what is available in the packages. Plus it just tastes better in my opinion. Once you’ve got all your toppings in place top with a thick layer of cheese.
Pop in the oven and bake until the cheese is bubbly and starting to brown. We wanted to make sure the cheese melted before the bread was really toasted so we created a foil cover of sorts to get the desired results. Once it’s ready, let cool and carefully cut into strips. Your guests will love this so much it’ll be gone before you even get to take a picture of the final product. Woops!
